About Kennisis Contracting Ltd. - Conventional and Eco-Log Homes & Cottages

Kennisis Contracting has been in the construction trade independently since 1973. Our projects are divided equally between erecting eco-log buildings, conventional homes and cottages to finishing the interior. We specialize in complete new homes, house raising, foundations, cabinets & trim.

Most of our building contracts are in the Haliburton area.

ABOUT OUR TEAM

Vince Lancia who is the owner and motivating force in the company believes in “Hands On” involvement in the building trade. He enjoys seeing his projects develop from a piece of property and forest to a completed building with many features to enjoy.

The company usually employs 4-6 people and uses sub-contractors to do excavating, block work, heating, electrical and plumbing services. If there is any wood involved Vince can work his magic. All framing, roofs, windows & doors, kitchens, siding, trim and floors are done by Kennisis Contracting. All complete buildings are custom built. Vince will spend a great deal of time planning with his clients to be sure each building is exactly created to the clients needs.

Our main staff have been with us several years and are effective workers. Phil Smith and Kevin Kent share many years of experience and have benefited from Vince’s tutoring also. They are well liked by our clients. Mike Mueller is our workhorse and a very effective part of the team.

The most frequent compliment we hear is that Vince is flexible and creative. If a client requires a change or some part of the plan is not working, then many times Vince will offer a imaginative solution.

We have recently added a “Property Manager” to the team to wrap up the jobs as they come to conclusion. Al Cole calls each client to make sure they are satisfied and the job is completed. He routinely arranges for final details and closure.

COMPANY HISTORY

Kennisis Contracting was Kennisis Carpentry in the 70’s and Vince was doing Toronto builder’s trim, kitchens, and floors as required. Many subdivisions you may know were done by him or his brother. For this reason and along with his many years of experience framing speculative homes and clients jobs he is efficient and more productive than most competitors. This combines to make Vince a professional at both rough and trim woodworking. Therefore his clients reap the benefit of lesser prices, excellent workmanship and timely projects and his company continues to fare well financially.

OUR SERVICES

We offer a large range of services that include preparing summer cottages for year round residency and adding required extensions or basements. We work equally with conventional designs and eco-log buildings as clients wish.

Along with complete custom home building, Kennisis Contracting has done many additions, docks, decks and interior changes for clients. One of the frequently asked for projects involves lifting an existing building and installing a full foundation or basement. This allows a cottage to be used year round as winter water and full insulation can be introduced.

A full inspection of an existing building must be done prior to a project involving substantial funds to be sure the building is worthy of added expense and the property will see extensive increase in real value.

“Anything made of wood” is Vince’s domain, which means any project involving wood products a client can think up, we can tackle.

Garages, bunkies, fireplaces and bathroom or kitchen renovations are also frequently requested. There are many projects around the Kennisis and Redstone Lakes to witness his work.

ERECTION ALTERNATIVES

Self-Assembly: Eco-Log Kits are ready for assembly. All material that is necessary in the assembly of the building is included in the kit.

For assembly details, please refer to the assembly plan, which outlines in detail every step in the assembly and erection process.

CONTRACTOR ERECTION OF SHELL

Kennisis Contracting Ltd. has experience in the erection of Eco-Log structures. This company is commonly charging $20/sq. ft. of floor space for the erection of the building shell on a provided foundation. Second floor cost is $10/sq. ft. Our fee also includes the installation of the roof and windows as well as the hanging of doors if supplied. This package provides the customer with an erected shell. All dormers are an extra $2,000.

TURNKEY ERECTION

Kennisis Contracting Ltd. with experience in erecting Eco-Log structures is commonly charging $110 /sq. ft. for the main level and $60/sq. ft. for second floor for turnkey erection of the Eco-Log buildings. This includes the provision and erection of a complete and finished kit, along with the basement and all systems inside such as electrical, plumbing, heating, kitchen cupboards, floors, doors and windows. Not included in this package are: excavation, driveway, septic, well, landscaping as well as electrical hookup past the meter and electrical fixtures. All dormers are an extra $2,000.
